Bursa Carbon Exchange Holds Successful First Renewable Energy Certificates Auction

Kuala Lumpur, June 25, 2024 – Bursa Carbon Exchange (BCX), a subsidiary of Bursa Malaysia Berhad, successfully conducted its first auction of renewable energy certificates (RECs) today. This marks a crucial development in Malaysia’s journey towards cleaner energy sources. The auction featured Hydropower RECs from the vintage year 2024 (HRECv24), generated by the Murum Hydroelectric Plant in Sarawak. This plant, operated by Sarawak Energy Berhad, stands as Malaysia’s first large-scale sustainable energy project with an impressive installed capacity of 944 megawatts (MW).
