SAREF is a biennial conference that represents a 10-year thought leadership campaign, bringing leaders and subject matter experts in the energy and sustainability sectors which includes c-suites, policy makers, academicians, civil societies and the media together to discuss about renewable energy and actionable solutions to build a more sustainable energy future for Southeast Asia.

Sarawak Energy organised the first conference in 2019 to advocate for the campaign. Anchored on the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UNSDGs) with a focus on Goal No. 7, 13, 17, 11, 5 and 8, each subsequent SAREF conference provides the opportunity to review commitments made previously.
