Future of net zero implementation at Asia’s leading event on clean energy technology, policy and finance

SINGAPORE, 25 October 2022 | The future of net zero implementation takes centre stage at the upcoming ninth edition of the Asia Clean Energy Summit 2022 (ACES 2022). Organised by the Sustainable Energy Association of Singapore (SEAS) and held in conjunction with the Singapore International Energy Week (SIEW), the summit will take place at Sands Expo and Convention Centre, Marina Bay Sands from 26 to 28 October 2022. The Minister of State for Manpower and Second Minister for Trade and Industry, Dr Tan See Leng, is the Guest of Honour.

As Asia’s leading event focused on clean energy technology, policy and finance, the summit provides a common platform for regional thought leaders in both the public and private sectors to collaborate on critical issues and opportunities in harnessing clean energy for the future.

ACES 2022 seeks to spearhead alignment with the Singapore Green Plan to achieve the net zero by 2050 goal through investing in the research and development of green energy sources. A memorandum of understanding will be signed during the opening ceremony for a new alliance. The alliance brings together three key trade associations and chambers (TACs) as its founders to support the Singapore Green Plan and net zero ambitions: SEAS, SGTech and the Singapore Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCCI). What to expect at ACES 2022

ACES 2022 will feature keynote sessions and panel discussions from clean energy thought leaders over a variety of topics, from various renewable energy and storage systems to clean energy financing and energy use pathways.

Some of the industry leaders and experts speaking during the summit include Priyantha Wijayatunga, Chief of Energy Sector Group at Asian Development Bank; Dr Nuki Agya Utama, Executive Director for ASEAN Centre for Energy; Alexander Lenz, Chief Executive Officer APAC for Aquila Capital; Dannif Danusaputro, President Director and Chief Executive Officer for Pertamina New & Renewable Energy; Assaad Razzouk, Chief Executive Officer for Gurin Energy; Frank Phuan, Co-Founder and Business Chief Executive Officer for EDPR Sunseap; Philip Jones, Chief Commercial Officer for Intercontinental Energy; and Tai Yeap Wai, General Manager, Southeast Asia Electrical Sector at Eaton. 

The summit features a slew of events from the Clean Energy Leaders Dialogue to the Carbon Capture, Utilisation and Storage for the Low-Carbon Transition (CCUS) workshop and talks by industry experts on four major tracks: solar and storage; electric mobility; energy efficiency; and green hydrogen. PowerACE 2022 serves up innovative energy solutions

PowerACE 2022 attracted over 100 applications addressing the key themes of Decarbonisation, Digitalisation, Buildings and Mobility. PowerACE 2022 is supported by Temasek Foundation, BloombergNEF, CapitaLand, City Developments Limited, EcoLabs Centre for Innovation for Energy and Private Financing Advisory Network (PFAN). Now in its fifth instalment, the platform aims to provide a stage for start-ups globally to showcase solutions that can drive Singapore and the region’s energy eco-systems towards a better and cleaner future.

The top 12 finalists will get to pitch their solutions to a judging panel and other industry leaders on 27 October. These start-ups hail from various countries such as Bisly Ltd (Estonia), which provides cutting-edge building automation systems; Shanghai Powershare Technology Ltd (China), a sustainable digital services provider based on advanced energy and battery AI; and Sunkonnect Pte Ltd (Singapore), developers of alkaline electrolysers through solar power coupled with storage devices to produce green hydrogen. The winning start-up will stand to win a $50,000 cash prize from Temasek Foundation. There will be two other awards, one from the Private Financing Advisory Network, PFAN Clean Energy Award, for Professional mentoring in business plan development and investment facilitation services worth USD13000 and another one for an industrial testbed from one of our testbed partners.
