Taking PJ City on a green trail

Rapid population growth and squatters existing in the outskirts of Kuala Lumpur in the early 1950’s had brought congestion to the capital. To resolve this concern, a 1,200-acre rubber plantation at Jalan Klang Lama known as the Effingham Estate was developed  to create a new settlement known as Petaling Jaya.  At present, the administrative area of Petaling Jaya City Council (MBPJ) is 97.2 square kilometres which is rapidly growing. As of July 2022, Petaling Jaya has a total population of over 619,925 people and the number of property holding of 278,800. Petaling Jaya is the leading growth centre in Selangor.
